Casa Salcido has been opening its doors to gatherings and retreats for years. Each has been different, shaped by the people who came through our gates, the facilitators and collaborators who shared their knowledge, the food around our table, and what we created together.

Food, place & cultura
Our culinary excursions take guests beyond Casa Salcido to experience Baja through its food, people, markets, growers, makers, and communities. From mercados and street food to regional ingredients and local restaurants, each excursion is an opportunity to eat, learn, explore, and experience the place we call home.

Our home was made to be shared
Some of our favorite gatherings are simply about bringing people together. Casa Salcido has welcomed neighbors, families, friends, artists, educators, collaborators, and community around our tables and throughout the estate. There is usually food involved, often music, plenty of conversation, and always room for another chair.

Around Chef Silvana's table
La Mesa del Barrio brings guests around Chef Silvana's table for an intimate culinary experience rooted in Mexican food, story, memory, and conversation. Chef cooks, teaches, tells stories, answers questions, and shares the knowledge behind the food while Taller students have opportunities to practice the skills they are learning through real service.

Remembering ourselves together
Chicanas brought women, femmes, and non-binary folx together at Casa Salcido for movement, conversation, food, rest, reflection, and remembering. Through shared meals, facilitated experiences, and time together throughout the Casa, we created space to explore what it means to come home to ourselves, our stories, our bodies, and one another.

Finding, reclaiming & using our voices
La Voz explored voice as something carried through the body, story, sound, movement, and community. Through facilitated practices, drumming, conversation, shared meals, and rest, participants were invited to listen inward, take up space, make some noise, and explore what becomes possible when we use our voices together.

Lowriders, cultura & comunidad
Lowrider culture has a home at Casa Salcido. We have welcomed Viejitos Car Club to gather around cars, food, music, art, stories, and community. For us, lowriding is more than beautiful cars. It carries creativity, cultural memory, familia, resistance, and generations of Chicano and Mexican American history.
